The "Expo 2020 Dubai Steering Committee" held its first meeting in Dubai yesterday, in the presence of Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Tolerance, Commissioner-General of "Expo 2020 Dubai", and the Minister of State for International Cooperation Affairs and Director General of the "Expo 2020 Dubai" office, Reem bint Ibrahim Al Hashemi, the Secretary-General of the International Bureau of Exhibitions, Dmitriy Kirkkins, and Chairman of the “Expo 2020 Dubai Steering Committee” and Commissioner-General of Switzerland at “Expo 2020 Dubai”, Manuel Saltici.
The commission, which includes commissioners of 34 countries and represents the interests of all 192 participating countries, focuses on making every effort to ensure that an exceptional international "Expo" is presented to the world. The committee is also scheduled to meet periodically until the launch of "Expo 2020 Dubai" during the six months of the event.
"Expo" is exceptional
During the meeting, Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak said that the committee focuses on strengthening ties between Expo 2020 Dubai and international participants, and uniting us in the pursuit of our goals, which is to organize an exceptional international Expo whose role is not limited to dazzling, but rather lays solid foundations for cooperation Internationalization and prosperity for future generations.
He added: «Together we will spread the culture of tolerance, minds will continue and create the future, and this will help us in achieving a better world, while we celebrate our achievements, plant seeds of innovative ideas, and embrace the best global practices that will help us to develop solutions to common global challenges, and build a better world that is more prosperous and sustainable for everyone without Exception".
Global commission
For his part, Manuel Salchley, Chairman of the Expo 2020 Dubai Steering Committee, said that the committee represents 192 participating countries, and is dedicated to supporting all participating countries in showcasing their best cultures, innovations and ideas.
He continued: «Through cooperation between us, we will ensure that the (Expo 2020 Dubai) is the greatest event in the world, and the largest review of the progress of humanity and its achievements and an opportunity that is not repeated for millions of visitors.
Global event
In turn, the Secretary-General of the International Bureau of Exhibitions, Dmitriy Kirkkins, said that for nearly 170 years, the "International Expo" brought together individuals, organizations and countries to demonstrate solutions to the most pressing contemporary challenges. He stressed that "Expo 2020 Dubai" will be among the copies of this most comprehensive and global international event in its history, at a time when the steering committee will play an important role in ensuring that every country plays its role in establishing a better future for all of us.
Brotherhood document
Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan received at his palace yesterday, members of the "Expo 2020 Dubai Steering Committee", and talks were exchanged on the importance of this international event in building a better world for future generations, in the presence of the Minister of State for International Cooperation Affairs and Director General of the Office of Expo 2020 Dubai Reem bint Ibrahim Al Hashemi, Executive Director of the Expo 2020 Dubai office, Najeeb Al Ali, and a number of officials.
During the meeting, Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak touched on the first anniversary of the signing of the “Human Brotherhood Document for World Peace and Coexistence” that emanated from the historic meeting that gathered His Holiness Pope Francis the Pope of the Catholic Church and His Eminence the Grand Imam, Dr. Ahmed Al-Tayeb, Sheikh of Al-Azhar Al Sharif in Abu Dhabi.

For their part, members of the "Expo 2020 Dubai Steering Committee" praised the civilizational development witnessed by the UAE in various fields, stressing the UAE's pioneering role in spreading the values of peace, coexistence, love and brotherhood among human beings, which was reflected in its care and support to achieve the goals of the "Human Brotherhood Document" for good All of humanity.
It is noteworthy that "Expo 2020 Dubai" will be the first international "Expo" to be held in the Middle East, Africa and South Asia, and the largest event ever in the Arab world, during the period from October 20, 2020 to April 10, 2021.

The "Expo 2020 Dubai Steering Committee" was formed according to the agreements of the "International Exhibition Office", the governing body for the "International Expo" affairs.
