Tent camp in Kallak: Landowner requests removal assistance from police

Participants from Rainbow Gathering have been in Jokkmokk since the last week in July and stay one week into September. When SVT visited the camp on August 14, an estimated 1,000 people were present.

- There are between 1,000 and 2,000 people in the camp and that so many tents in the same place so long can not be within the scope of the public right, says Christian Rimpi.

The landowner, Jokkmokk's general, police reported Rainbow Gathering's tent camp last week, according to the report, the camp is not licensed.

- We have been on site and tried to have a dialogue with the tents where we asked them to move, but no one cared what we said, says Christina Rimpi.

Jokkmokk's public opinion agreed at an extra board meeting to request handrail.

- This is an important matter of principle. If so many people get to camp in the same place for such a long time, they move the practice of public law, believes Christian Rimpi.
