Richard Gasquet, 56th in the world and Andy Murray in the first round, qualified for the quarter-finals of the Cincinnati Masters 1000 by beating Argentina's Diego Schwartzman (24th), 7-6 (8/6), 6 -3, Thursday, in the 8th finals.
Richard Gasquet, 33, looking for a 16th career title, will face the winner of the match between Roberto Bautista, the 11th-ranked Spaniard, and the young Serbian Miomir Kecmanovic, 58th in the world at 19 and from qualifications.
Two other French must compete in the round of 16 on Thursday: Lucas Pouille and Adrian Mannarino.
