Recep Tayyip Erdogan announced the beginning of a new military operation against the People's Protection Units (YPG) in northern Syria, a Kurdish militia backed by Western countries but Ankara's pet peeve. Named "Peace Spring", the operation is conducted in northern Syria by "The Turkish Armed Forces and the Syrian National Army (Syrian rebels backed by Ankara)," the Turkish president announced on Twitter.
