470 has long been a strong Swedish class in sailing sports. In recent years, the pair Anton Dahlberg and Fredrik Bergström have represented Sweden in the major championships, and this has meant medals several times.

Therefore, the less successful results were on Thursday, when the pair got the results 11-9-9, leaving the medal place for a fifth place not good.

But in the final medal race where only the ten best for participating and where the results are counted twice, the Swedes won.

- It was strongly done, but also a bit of saving the honor. They were in the lead all the time during the week, until they fell to fifth place. The goal was a medal, and they managed it, says the union captain Magnus Grävare - just returned from Enoshira.

World Cup gold to Australia

The Swedish boat won the medal race before Australia. It meant bronze in total for Sweden and gold for Auystralien. Sweden needed at least one boat between itself and Greece to reach the bronze, and so it was.

In a year's time it is time for the Olympics, and even then the competitions will be decided in the sea off Enoshira in Japan.

- It was nice conditions, light middle wind and good weather. But it is rumored that a typhoon is on its way, says Magnus Grävare, who admits that the 470 looks like a medal jump.

- Sweden has a boat in the Olympics, but it is not entirely obvious that Dahlberg / Bergström will take the place. That's how tough it is, explains Confederate Excavator.

The Swedes will remain in Enoshima throughout August, including a pre-Olympics that will be crucial for the Olympic competitions.
