MADRID (Reuters) - Spanish Football Federation president Luis Rubales said on Wednesday he was studying the Spanish Super Cup on a regular basis in January each year and that the confrontation would take place in Saudi Arabia.
The Spanish Super Cup has been held since 1982 between the Spanish champions and the Spanish King's Cup and is usually held at the start of the new season.
The last edition of the tournament was held last year in Morocco when Barcelona won the Sevilla 2/1 for the first time the Spanish Super Cup is held outside the borders of Spain.
Robiales announced in February that he would like to host the Super Cup every year outside of Spain and to have a four-round tournament in which both the champion and the champion will participate in both the league and cup competitions.
"The next Super Cup will be held outside of Spain and with a quad-cycle system," Spanish sports daily Marca quoted Rubiales as saying.
Spanish media reported on Tuesday that negotiations were under way for a six-year agreement to set up the Spanish superstar in Saudi Arabia for 180 million euros (201.5 million dollars), with a similar deal between Saudi Arabia and the Serie A.
"Saudi Arabia is an option, although it is difficult to reach an agreement for 30 million euros (per season)," said Rubiales. "We will have to think about the security of the players, but first we need to make sure the championship is established."
And if the Spanish federation reached a final agreement on the super-establishment of the quartet system, Barcelona, Atletico Madrid, Valencia and Real Madrid will be the sides of the tournament because of Barcelona in both the Cup final and in the first and second place in the league this season opens the way for the participation of Real Madrid
