The tours around the closed school at Singö in Norrtälje municipality have been many. As late as last fall, the new majority withdrew the promise that the islanders could buy the building. But now they have changed again.

The Friends of Singö School's friends now want to use the site to combine different activities.

- You should be able to have coffee, it should be a hub for excursions or for ecotourism, a place to give lectures or courses, says Sarah Thorsaeus, who for several years has struggled for the islanders to buy the school.

After several years of fighting, the islanders can now buy old Singö school.

What do you think if the municipality has previously said that this is a waste of taxpayers' money?

- Either way, you can think that "we sell to the highest bidder we get money into the municipal tax chest quickly", but if you want to look at long-term tax effects then you should invest in a business that you think will hold over time and which will generate financial benefit to many.

In the video at the top you hear more about the plans for the site and why the municipality now approves the sale.
