The National Children's Medical Center and the Multidisciplinary Joint Diagnosis Center for Difficult and Rare Diseases of the Pediatric Hospital Affiliated to Fudan University were unveiled on the 9th to benefit the children. Zhai Xiaowen, deputy director of the Pediatric Hospital Affiliated to Fudan University, said that at present, the multidisciplinary collaborative diagnosis and treatment (MDT) model has become one of the important medical models in the international medical field. "Consultation center" is suitable for different multi-disciplinary teams to carry out consultation and discussion on different children. The consultation center will further integrate medical resources, rely on a multidisciplinary team, and continuously optimize individual diagnosis and treatment plans to improve the diagnosis and treatment capabilities of pediatric difficult and rare diseases.

It is understood that due to the particularity of rare diseases and the complexity of diagnosis of children's diseases, the diagnosis and treatment of pediatric difficult rare diseases can be described as "difficult to add to the difficulty". In some grassroots children's hospitals, due to the lack of professional medical teams, special auxiliary examination methods and the support of cutting-edge technologies including gene sequencing, doctors have encountered bottlenecks in the treatment of such diseases; in the past, the lack of effective referral mechanisms in China has made patients Very embarrassing.

Professor Zhai Xiaowen said that MDT can provide children with more comprehensive and targeted diagnosis and treatment, formulate the best individualized treatment plan for children, and avoid single treatment, repeated treatment and excessive treatment. Under the MDT model, parents of children save time, effort, high efficacy, and low cost. At the same time, they can break professional prejudices and scientific barriers and promote interdisciplinary communication and cooperation.

It is reported that since 2016, pediatric hospitals have selected 29 MDT projects from various specialties of the hospital and opened 27 MDT clinics. In the past three years, more than 1,100 MDT clinics have been visited. The expert team formulates individual diagnosis and treatment plans for each child, and the clinical remission rate exceeds 70%.

Huang Guoying, Dean of the Pediatric Hospital Affiliated to Fudan University, revealed: "In the future development of MDT management, we will sort and store the data of children in various specialties, analyze them regularly, and track the long-term prognosis and follow-up of follow-up children.
