LONDON (Reuters) - Zlatan Ibrahimovic is preparing to return to Milan after a "successful" period with the Los Angeles Galaxy, the NBA's commissioner said on Tuesday.

The 38-year-old has spent the last 18 months in the MLS, but his contract with the Galaxy expires this year and his name has been linked to several European clubs.

Ibrahimovic played for Milan from 2010 to 2012 and scored 42 goals in 61 league games. Garber pointed out that the Swedish striker is on his way to Italy.

"Zlatan is an interesting person," Garber told ESPN. "He is 38 years old and has signed Milan, one of the biggest clubs in the world."

Ibrahimovic was named in the 2018 and 2019 MLS squad and scored 53 goals.

His season ended after his team lost 3-5 to arch-rivals Los Angeles in the Western Conference semifinals last month.
