“In the period from 2017 to September 2019, almost 32 thousand people were convicted of corruption crimes. About 10% of them were law enforcement officers, ”he said.
At the same time, Chaika noted that, according to statistics, in just 9 months of this year, 26 thousand corruption crimes were detected in Russia, which is 1 thousand more than in the same period last year. In total, almost 30.5 thousand corruption crimes were recorded for the whole of 2018, and 29.6 thousand in 2017.
Earlier, Chaika said that next year it is planned to introduce new measures in Russia to combat corruption.
On December 8, the chairman of the Investigative Committee, Alexander Bastrykin, said that in Russia the number of law enforcement officials and special entities accused of corruption has decreased.
