Saudi Arabia's Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture imposed a temporary ban on the import of fresh pomegranate fruits from Yemen to prevent serious diseases that have been confirmed in the fruit.

"The ban came after proven pesticide residues exceeded the global limit," said Dr. Sanad al-Harbi, director general of livestock risk assessment.

For his part, the Director-General of the Department of Public Administration, Dr. Osama Al-Saleh, that the generalization of quarries and the implementation of all precautionary measures to prevent deadly diseases that may be transmitted to those who eat these fruits.
