“Russian military engineers of the International Armed Forces Center of the Russian Armed Forces during the first week of the humanitarian demining program in the vicinity of the city of Pkhonsavan, Sienghuang province discovered 37 explosive objects and artillery ammunition, clearing 0.25 hectares of the area,” RIA Novosti reports the Russian Ministry of Defense.
The ministry said that there is “a high concentration of unexploded ordnance” in the mine clearance area.
On October 22, it was reported that Russian sappers arrived in Laos to mine the area in which the Valley of Pitchers, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is located.
During the first day of work, 6 explosive objects were discovered.
