A statement from the embassy’s press service published on the diplomatic mission’s website says that Johnson’s statement against the backdrop of the 80th anniversary of the outbreak of World War II is surprising.
“With all the historical discussions around the Soviet military operation in the eastern regions of Poland (in Western Ukraine and Western Belarus), raising the question where the actions of the USSR are actually equated with Hitler aggression is completely unacceptable,” the embassy noted.
The report said that British diplomacy "condoned the Nazi aggressive policy" and "consistently sabotaged" the proposals of the Soviet Union to create an effective anti-Hitler alliance, "including specifically for the defense of Poland."
At the same time, the embassy added that the vast majority of Russians and British pay tribute to those who died in World War II and honor the Soviet-British alliance.
Earlier, Serbia and Montenegro condemned Poland’s refusal to invite Russia to Warsaw for events marking the anniversary of the outbreak of World War II.
