This was reported in the press service of the Russian Embassy in Washington.

“Embassy officials visited the Russian citizen Burkova extradited from Israel to the United States in a pre-trial detention center in the city of Alexandria, Virginia,” the Facebook diplomatic press release said.

The embassy confirmed that they maintain constant contact with the detained Russian, his lawyer and relatives and will seek to comply with his legal rights and interests.

Earlier, a court in the United States left Burkov in custody. He faces up to 80 years in prison.

Russia sent a note of protest to the US State Department over the extradition of Burkov from Israel.
