Russia and PRC called for resumption of six-party talks on North Korea

The relevant document calls for "the resumption of the Six-Party Talks as soon as possible or the resumption of multilateral consultations in any other similar format."

The resolution clarifies that the goal of returning to such a format is to promote "a peaceful and comprehensive settlement through dialogue, reducing tensions on the Korean Peninsula and beyond, and promoting peaceful coexistence and mutually beneficial regional cooperation in Northeast Asia."

It is noted that the six-party talks took place in Beijing from 2003 to 2009. High-ranking diplomats from Russia, the USA, China, North Korea, South Korea and Japan took part in them.

Earlier, Russia's ambassador to the DPRK, Alexander Macegora, said that Russia, together with China, plans to present a new course to the UN Security Council aimed at solving the nuclear problem of North Korea.
