Former Beatle Paul McCartney paid tribute to Robert Freeman on Saturday, who died at 82 and one of the favorite photographers of the legendary British group who made several covers of his most emblematic albums.
"He was one of our favorite photographers during the Beatles years, who made several of our covers," McCartney wrote on his website.
"He was a great professional, but also very creative and a true original thinker ," he added.
Robert Freeman, born on December 5, 1936, made the cover of With the Beatles (1963), the second album of the 'Fab Four', but also of Beatles for Sale (1964), Help! (1965) and Rubber Soul (1965).
Another former Beatle, Ringo Starr, also paid tribute to the photographer on Twitter. "May God bless Robert Freeman, peace and love to all his family."
The official Beatles account on Twitter, which announced the death on Friday , did not indicate the cause of his death.
Freeman, who began his career in the British newspaper The Sunday Times , was also the photographer of the first Pirelli calendar in 1964, in which naked young people appear.
