Cascade injury at Real Madrid: Croatian Luka Modric, injured in a thigh, has joined the infirmary, announced Thursday the club merengue, faced with a shortage of midfielders in the approach of his European shock to Paris Wednesday in the Champions League.

"He was diagnosed with a muscle injury to the adductor of the right leg," Real wrote in a statement, without specifying duration of absence.

It seems unlikely that the 2018 Ballon d'Or will be reinstated in time for Levante's reception on Saturday in the Spanish league and it looks very uncertain for moving to the Parc des Princes on Wednesday in the group stage of the C1.

This new setback is in addition to a series of physical glitches in the squad led by Zinedine Zidane, who has suffered in recent weeks the injuries of Belgian striker Eden Hazard, the Spanish winger Marco Asensio, the Colombian James Rodriguez, the young Brahim Diaz or the playmaker Isco.

Hazard and James nevertheless resumed training Tuesday, which implies that they could be reinstated in time for Paris. As it stands, Zidane has only three valid midfielders: Toni Kroos, Casemiro and young Uruguayan Fede Valverde.
