Russian President Vladimir Putin arrived in the UAE on Tuesday for an official visit to discuss ways of boosting bilateral relations and the most important regional and international issues.

Abu Dhabi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Zayed received the Russian President at the airport, and then went to the Presidential Palace, where he held a formal reception ceremony for Putin, where he hosts a meeting of Russian-Emirati talks with the participation of large delegations from the two countries, for the two leaders to hold bilateral talks.

For his part, Russian Presidential Assistant Yuri Ushakov said that the talks hosted by Abu Dhabi will focus on the issues of the further development of bilateral cooperation in the economic, trade and investment sectors, and exchange views on vital international and regional issues.

He added that the two sides will discuss "the fight against terrorism and settlement in Syria, Libya and Yemen, and the situation in the Gulf," pointing out that "the central issue on the agenda of the talks is trade and economic cooperation."

The visit, described by the UAE media as historic, is Putin's second to the UAE since 2007, while the Russian president held 10 meetings with the crown prince of Abu Dhabi, in addition to a series of telephone calls, the latest on June 10.

The visit comes as part of a Gulf tour that Putin began with a visit to Saudi Arabia, during which he signed important documents to strengthen bilateral relations, especially in the field of investment and stimulate trade exchange.
