He repeated the words spoken earlier in the week by Emmanuel Macron. Edouard Philippe reiterated this Friday "his wish to reach as soon as possible a compromise" with the social partners on pension reform, after a meeting with part of the government. The Prime Minister said he would introduce the meeting to resume the "new round of talks" on Tuesday, according to Matignon.

He also pointed out, during a meeting that had not been announced Friday with members of the government responsible for reform, that the government had "put before the holidays a good compromise on the table, which does not go back on the principle of the abolition of special regimes, but which ensures a transition rhythm without brutality for the personnel concerned ”.

Resumption of negotiations on January 7

This meeting took place with the Ministers of Labor Muriel Pénicaud, of the Ecological Transition Elisabeth Borne, and of Health Agnès Buzyn, and the Secretaries of State for Transport Jean-Baptiste Djebbari and for pensions Laurent Pietraszewski. The head of government gave an update on the new round of discussions which will open next week with the trade union organizations.

Edouard Philippe notably specified that he would introduce the meeting to resume negotiations with the unions, which will be held at the Ministry of Labor on Tuesday, January 7 in the morning. It will take place under the aegis of Muriel Pénicaud, in the presence of Agnès Buzyn and the Secretaries of State Laurent Pietraszewski and Olivier Dussopt, in charge of the Civil Service.

30th transport blocking day

During the meeting in Matignon, the ministers in charge also took stock of the situation in public transport and noted that "if it is improving compared to December, traffic will remain disrupted next week due to the persistent mobilization of some of the drivers and dispatchers ”.

"There is a lot of grain to grind, a lot on the table today" to "find the way to a rapid compromise", had previously assured on France 2 government spokesman Sibeth Ndiaye. During his greetings to the French on Tuesday, Emmanuel Macron reaffirmed his determination to "carry out pension reform", while urging the government to "find a quick compromise". The strike against the pension reform is on Friday in its 30th day, a record for a continuous blockage of transport for more than 30 years, but the dialogue of the deaf between executive and unions persists.
