Bayern Munich have confirmed that they have signed Croatian striker Ivan Perisic from Inter Milan on a one-year loan.

"Ivan will help us immediately with his international experience over the years," said Bosnian sports director Hasan Humidzic. "He is technically talented and flexible in attack."

"I am sure that Perisic will be involved very quickly, because he knows the Bundesliga and (Croatian coach) Niko Kovac."

Perisic, 30, played for the Bundesliga between 2011 and 2015 when he defended Borussia Dortmund, with whom he won the league and cup double in 2012, and Wolfsburg, with whom he won the domestic cup in 2015. He also played under the supervision of compatriot Kovac, When the latter took over from the national team between 2013 and 2015.

The 2018 World Cup runner-up confirmed his return to the Bundesliga through the Bavarian giants after undergoing a routine medical in Munich on Monday morning.

"I am very happy to be back in Germany," he said. Bayern is one of the biggest European clubs. "We don't just want to win the domestic league and cup, we also want to compete in the Champions League."

Former Bayern captain Stefan Effenberg told Sport 1: "I don't think Perisic is an emergency solution. He is a great player who can help Bayern right away, and he doesn't need much time to adapt."

Bayern took Perisic's calculations after his deal with international player Leroy Sanet took a heavy blow after the latter suffered a cruciate anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee with Manchester City and was sidelined between six and seven months after undergoing surgery.

According to the newspaper «Bild» German Bayern will pay five million euros (5.6 million dollars) for the services of Perisic, with the option of final purchase for 20 million at the end of the season.

Perisic's contract with Inter extends until 2022, but he is no longer part of the plans of new coach Antonio Conte, who recently took over, prompting him to leave.

The Croatian will try to compensate the departure of Frenchman Franck Ribery, the Dutch "Flying" Arjen Robben from Bayern, and the return of Colombian international James Rodriguez to Real Madrid after the end of his loan period.

Bayern begin the task of defending their title at home to Hertha Berlin in the opening match of the first week «Bundesliga» yesterday.
