This statement was made after the meeting of Pelosi with Hong Kong activists.

"We urge the United States to stop supporting the radical forces in Hong Kong that advocate its independence," said Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Gen Shuang.

On September 18, Pelosi supported the demand of Hong Kong activists to hold fully democratic elections and thanked them for the “challenge of conscience” of the Chinese government.

Anti-government protests continue in Hong Kong for more than ten weeks. Authorities announced a decision to withdraw the extradition bill, which led to riots.

Earlier, the German ambassador to Beijing was called to the Chinese Foreign Ministry due to a meeting between German Foreign Minister Heiko Maas and Hong Kong opposition activist Joshua Wong.
