  • Venezuela. The 'Zapatero doctrine' about Venezuela: say that Maduro talks, silence about torture and seeing green shoots

The change of position of Spain in its policy towards Venezuela has been evident in the first session of control to the Government of the legislature when the president, Pedro Sánchez, has referred to the interim president recognized by Spain as "leader of the opposition", following thus the wake of the second vice president, Pablo Iglesias.

Sanchez has expressed himself in these terms at the request of the Vox leader, Santiago Abascal, who has criticized with extreme harshness the meeting between the Minister of Transportation, José Luis Ábalos, at dawn at the airport of Barajas, with the Vice President of Nicolás Maduro, Delcy Rodríguez, included in the list of members of the Caracas regime that is banned from entering the Schengen area.

The president of the Government, as later the Minister of the Interior, Fernando Grande Marlaska, have assured that Rodriguez "did not enter" into Spanish territory. Sanchez has assured that Ábalos was limited to "fulfilling his duty by avoiding a diplomatic crisis."
