Aeon is affiliated with the group of the largest Internet supermarket in the UK, “Ocado”.
The two companies held a press conference in Tokyo on the 29th, and announced that they would create a state-of-the-art warehouse in 2023, four years later, and start a new online supermarket business in Japan.
Okado is also a net supermarket in the US and Australia, and has strengths in warehouses and delivery systems that make full use of AI and robots.
By incorporating Okado's know-how, AEON has set up a system that can respond quickly to large orders and wants to increase net supermarket sales to 600 billion yen by 2030.
At a press conference, AEON President Motoya Okada said, “In Japan, where the size of online supermarkets is small, the two companies agreed that there was a lot of growth. "
