“According to the current legislation, information at the disposal of the Interpol NCB of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia about a person involved can be made public only with the permission of the initiator of the search,” the agency quotes the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

Information about who is the initiator of the search, the agency did not disclose.

Earlier, Moscow requested Washington through Interpol to find Oleg Smolenkov in the United States.

According to Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov, Moscow considers the history of Smolenkov as speculation.

A spokesman for Russian President Dmitry Peskov noted that Smolenkov worked in the Kremlin’s administration, but was fired several years ago.

On September 10, CNN, citing a source, said that US intelligence agencies removed a “high-level informant” from Russia in 2017. He was allegedly evacuated due to the risk of his exposure in connection with the "careless attitude" of US leader Donald Trump to classified information.

Trump, commenting on the media, noted that he knows nothing about this.
