Japan and Iran Vice-Minister of Foreign Affairs Level Meeting to be held on 16th October 15:20:45

As tensions over the situation in Iran increased, discussions between Japan and Iran, Vice-Minister for Foreign Affairs, will be held.

Tensions have been rising over the Iranian situation, as an oil-related facility in Saudi Arabia was attacked last month and an Iranian tanker sailing off Saudi Arabia exploded on the 11th of this month.

On the 16th of Japan time, for the discussions to be held in Iran's capital, Tehran, Mr. Mori, Foreign Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and Mr. Araguchi, Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs, will attend from the Japanese side.

Under this policy, opinions are expected to be exchanged over measures to alleviate tensions, and Japan intends to encourage Iran to continue its dialogue and implement a nuclear agreement.

On the 9th of this month, Turkey is also expected to discuss the start of military operations in northern Syria.
