Smart TVs , these smart TVs that have menus beyond teletext and where you can download apps as if they were mobile, are great. They allow you to watch Netflix , HBO and even traditional TV channels. The problem is that, like everything today, they are getting old.

Or well, old for what people. That TV that you bought in 2012 may still seem fantastic to you and do not consider changing it, but for Netflix, it is already something of the Pleistocene and, therefore, they will stop supporting older smart TVs since 1 December 2019

The first company has been clear and direct with this matter has been Samsung , which in its official forum has been very clear and direct: its 2010 and 2011 televisions of the C and D ranges , regardless of their size, can no longer use the Netflix app after the fateful date.

The same will happen with LG TVs, which will also run out of support for those smart TVs sold before 2012. Roku , on its own, has confirmed that the following media players will not be compatible: Roku 2050X, Roku 2100X, Roku 2000C, Roku HD Player, Roku SD Player, Roku XR Player and Roku XD Player.

And the list goes on, but it is not clear at the moment which models of the rest of the manufacturers will no longer be compatible, so the best thing you can do is go to the Netflix compatible devices page, find the brand of your TV and Make sure it is compatible.

The brands confirmed with support after December 2019 are Samsung, LG, Hisense, Panasonic, Philips, Sony and Toshiba , but as we pointed out more, they will not be all their models.

There are devices with some time that will continue to be compatible, such as game consoles. If you have a PlayStation 3, a PlayStation 4 or an Xbox One , you can still use Netflix on these devices. The same if you use Movistar decoders or devices such as an AppleTV (model 2) or a Chromechast .

The same with your mobile phone: even if it is something old, if you have an Android operating system (version 4.4 to be compatible, version 7.0 to download) or iOS (version 5.0 to be compatible, version 10.0 to download), you can continue watching it on TV through a Chromecast or similar.

The list of devices is not complete, in any case, because not all manufacturers nor Netflix have been clear about it.
