New species of whale named “Black Whale” August 30th 18:24

Researchers, such as the National Museum of Science, named it “Black Whales” because it was found that the whales that lived on the coast of Hokkaido and were previously considered “whales” are new species.

A new species has been identified as the “Black Whale” inhabiting the coast of Hokkaido, and has been considered a “Whale Whale” in the North Pacific.

Among whalers, it has been known for some time that swarming whales on the coast of Hokkaido are a mixture of individuals with dark bodies, and research groups at the National Science Museum and Hokkaido University have launched on the coast. We have conducted a detailed survey of the individuals.

As a result, while the whale is about 10 meters long, the maximum length is about 7 meters, and 6 individuals with black body surface are found. It ’s not that different, but it turns out to be another species.

This means that the group has compiled and accepted the paper as a new species of “Black Whale”.

Currently, around 90 species of whales have been identified around the world, but according to the National Science Museum, it is the third case that a new species of whale is found on the coast of Japan.

Dr. Kaku Yamada, an honorary researcher at the National Science Museum, said, "It's amazing how new creatures can still be found with such a large creature.
