“Today, more than 30 thousand residents of the republic have already received passports of the Russian Federation, another 50 thousand have submitted the relevant documents,” RIA Novosti quoted Pasechnik as saying.

He expects that by the end of the year the number of people who have received a Russian passport will exceed 100 thousand.

On April 24, Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a decree on a simplified procedure for obtaining Russian passports by residents of the self-proclaimed Donetsk and Lugansk people's republics.

At the end of September, it was reported that residents of the self-proclaimed Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics filed nearly 90 thousand applications for simplified Russian citizenship.
