Tunisian parliament speaker Mohamed al-Nasser was sworn in Thursday as interim president of the country after a meeting of parliament's parliament.

The announcement of the final vacancy in the post of President of the Republic after the death of President Baiji Kayed Sebsi, pointing out that this was in accordance with constitutional procedures.

Nasser, a specialist in social law, will rule for a minimum of 45 days and a maximum of 90 days until early presidential elections.

The eighties of al-Nasser are no different from his predecessors. He was close to him, and his presidency of the highest pyramid in the Tunisian state would be a continuation of his approach.

Nasser, who pledged to abide by the provisions of the constitution, committed to preserving Tunisia's independence and territorial integrity and respecting its constitution and legislation, was born on 21 March 1935 in the city of Jamm in the coastal state of Mahdia.

Al-Nasser graduated in 1959 from the Institute of Higher Studies in Tunisia, specializing in law. He received his doctorate in social law in 1976 from the University of Paris, France.

Political march
He began his political career by appointing him during the reign of the late President Habib Bourguiba as the "General Delegate" (Director) of the Tunisians Abroad (1973-1974), then Minister of Labor and Social Affairs in the Government of El Hadi Nouira (1974-1977) Government of Muhammad Mazali (1979-1985).

After Zine El Abidine Ben Ali took power after Bourguiba was ousted in 1987, Nasser withdrew from political life, but assumed the presidency of the Permanent Mission of Tunisia to the United Nations and the relevant international bodies in Geneva during 1991-1996.

Since 2005 he has been the Coordinator of the UN Global Compact in Tunisia and a Social Auditor. He has also served as an international consultant since 2000, and has also established a specialized magazine on social law.

In addition to these responsibilities and tasks, Al-Nasser has served as president of the Institute of Social Consultancy and membership of the International Institute for Social Auditing in Paris.

He was also a consultant at the Center for Strategic and Strategic Studies in Paris and a member of a number of regional and international human rights bodies.

Positions and functions
Following the revolution that overthrew Ben Ali on January 14, 2011, Nasser returned to the political arena in his own right. The Ministry of Social Affairs of the Baji government Kayed Sibsi led Tunisia from the end of February 2011 until December 2011.

In February 2014, al-Nasser joined the Tunisian Appeal party led by Qayid al-Sibsi and was elected to the People's Assembly (parliament) after an October election won by his party.

His victory, headed by the first elected parliament after the Tunisian revolution, was easy because he was the only candidate, winning 176 votes out of the 214 votes cast by the new constitution.

Nasser is one of the most prominent representatives of the Bourguiba heritage in the Tunisian Appeal Party, which included leftist parties, trade unions, representatives of the center and former officials of the Ben Ali regime.

During his tenure as president, Nasser pledged to appreciate the achievements of President al-Sibsi in building the state of independence and the presidency of the republic in the past five years.
