Borussia Moenchengladbach maintained their lead in the Bundesliga despite a 1-0 defeat by Borussia Dortmund, benefiting from Bayern Munich's 2-2 draw at Augsburg.
In the Bundesliga's eighth stage, Dortmund returned to victory after three successive draws and snatched a precious win from Mönchengladbach thanks to a 58th-minute goal from Marcus Rios.
Bayern missed the chance to clinch the top spot with a 2-2 draw at Augsburg.
Borussia Dortmund moved up to 15 points and climbed to fourth in the table, ahead of Bayern Munich on goal difference. Borussia Moenchengladbach had 16 points but maintained their lead on goal difference against Wolfsburg.
Werder Bremen drew 1-1 with Hertha Berlin and Leipzig with Wolfsburg with the same result.
