German Chancellor Angela Merkel has warned British Prime Minister Boyce Johnson that an agreement on Brexit seems "very unlikely and impossible," given the lack of new proposals from London on Ireland, according to a source in the British government.

Johnson and Merkel spoke by telephone as tough negotiations continued in Brussels to avert "no agreement" on October 31, based on a project presented by Boris Johnson last Wednesday. The source said that under the substance of the communication, an agreement for Downing Street was "virtually impossible."

The German government declined to comment on the content of the communication in response to questions to «AFP», a European source in Brussels that «nothing progress» during the negotiations, the day before yesterday, adding that «amendments» proposed by London «do not change much ».

Another source pointed out that according to the current formula, the London project "is not enough to convince" Brussels, and in this "they do not know how they will be able to prepare for the European Council on 17 and 18 of this month."

European Council President Donald Tusk yesterday accused the British prime minister of manipulating the future of Europe by trying to blame the bloc for the failure of the Brexit negotiations. "United and the security and interests of our people are at stake. You don't want an agreement, you don't want a postponement, you don't want to cancel (Brexit), where are you going?"

According to the BBC, Johnson's aides believe that talks with Brussels are "on the verge of failure," after German Chancellor Johnson warned that the EU's chief negotiator, Michel Barnier, is expected to present the European Commission members with talks with London.
