This spring, "Peja" Lindholm chose to end his career as a national team captain, after nine successful years that led to a Swedish Olympic gold, two Olympic silver and four World Cup gold.

Now it is clear who is replacing him. New alliance captain Maria Prytz, 42.

- It feels absolutely fantastic. That's what I love, and to work full-time curling, it feels fantastic, ”she tells SVT Sport.

OS silver 2014

Prytz has a long and successful playing career behind him. She took Olympic silver with Team Margaretha Sigfridsson in Sochi 2014, and also took twelve World Cup and European Championship medals between 1999 and 2014, including three European Championship golds. Since then she has also been national team coach for a couple of years, including in connection with the 2018 Olympics - where Team Anna Hasselborg took gold.

So now she gets responsibility for the entire Swedish national team, and both the titles the league captain and the sports manager.

- It's a dream acquisition for us. Great for Swedish curling, says Lund manager Stefan Lund.

Sweden has shown in recent years that they are one of the world's best curling nations by far. Last year there was, among other things, European gold and World Cup silver on the women's side, and World Cup gold and European Championship silver on the men's side. The first goal for Prytz will be the European Championships in Helsingborg in November.
