The Gothenburg proposal was introduced as an e-service in January 2017 where the public can submit their own proposals to the municipality of Gothenburg. The proposals are published on the municipality's website where they are located for 90 days. During that time, anyone who wants to vote on the proposals can vote.

- The fact that the public makes proposals gives us a lot of knowledge about what engages and worries people in everyday life, what do you talk about in the workplace or at the dinner table? It will be a way for us to put our ear to the ground, ”says Stefan Lydén, who has overall responsibility for the Gothenburg proposal.

Several things have been voted on

He believes that the road between politicians and citizens has been shortened thanks to the Gothenburg proposal and points out, not least, that several proposals have actually been voted on by the politicians.

- Lots of concrete things have become reality thanks to the Gothenburg proposal and it is clearly something worthwhile, says Stefan Lydén.

At the same time, he points out that they have seen that the system needs to be developed. Among other things, he describes that the municipality is now sending out messages to the proposer when a proposal has reached 50, 100 and 150 votes to cheer on and show attendance.

In these districts, most proposals are made

Most proposals are made in the districts of Majorna / Linné and Centrum, and the least number of proposals are made in Angered and Östra Göteborg, something Stefan Lydén thinks the municipality must work with.

- We may not have reached out so well across the city and therefore need to make more information efforts in different places, so we reach out better. There we have a homework to do, he says.

In the clip, Stefan Lydén tips on what to think about when making a proposal.
