“I openly say this here, on your so authoritative program: Donald Trump has an obsession with Latin American peoples in general, hatred. For refugees, immigrants, but especially he hates the people of Venezuela and its history, ”said Maduro.

According to him, Trump "splashes out this aggression on the people of Venezuela."

Answering the question about sanctions against Venezuela, Maduro recalled the situation when “after the first war of 1990-1991, the UN Security Council imposed economic, trade and financial sanctions against Saddam Hussein and Iraq.”

“This was not a unilateral decision of any one country. But then the Security Council itself provided Saddam Hussein with the opportunity to buy medicine, raw materials and food in exchange for oil tankers. It was an exchange of "oil for medicine," "oil for food." Venezuela is not under UN Security Council sanctions. Against it, aggression was committed in the form of unilateral illegal sanctions by the United States, but at the same time we were not given such an opportunity as Iraq, ”he added.

Earlier, Maduro announced that he would send the UN Secretary General Anthony Guterresu an appeal signed by "millions" of Venezuelans who oppose US sanctions.

On September 17, the United States expanded sanctions against Venezuela by adding three individuals and 16 companies to the relevant lists.

In early February, Maduro, in an interview with RT, said that he was using all means of communication to urge the international community to “stop Trump’s madness.”
