Massive criticism has been directed at the IAAF and the organization's chairman Sebastian Coe since it was announced on Friday that the branches discus, three-step, 3,000 meter hurdles and 200 meters were thrown out of the Diamond League.

The latest in the line to see the decision is three-step legend Jonathan Edwards - who is still the world record holder in the branch with his 18.29 meter mark from the Gothenburg World Cup in 1995.

"There are so many things wrong with the decision, but what Usain Bolt showed was that athletics is not about branches but personalities and excluding and alienating one of the great stars of the sport, Christian Taylor, is unbelievable," the 53-year-old writes on Twitter.

Multiple Olympic and World Cup gold winner Christian Taylor responded to the IAAF's message by forming "The Athletics Association" which is supposed to become a trade union for athletes.

Also, Daniel Daniel Ståhl, who recently won the World Cup gold in the discus, is very critical and, together with other international stars in the throwing branch, has signed a letter addressed to Sebastian Coe urged to re-evaluate the decision.
