French newspaper Le Monde said that there are sources confirming that Saudi Arabia has funded the operations of the Russian "Wagner" company that is fighting in Libya alongside the forces of retired Major General Khalifa Hifter.

The newspaper emphasized that Haftar's support is nothing more than a negotiating pressure tool used by Russia to establish its presence in Libya as a major player.

The newspaper added that a UN report revealed that foreign fighters led sixty accurate air strikes, out of the 170 launched by Hafar's pro-Assad aircraft on the capital, Tripoli. Le Monde quoted experts as saying that these fighters were from Egypt and the UAE.

The newspaper considered that the absence of European countries from the Libyan scene and the different positions and conflicts of interests, in addition to the American disregard for what is happening in the country, all this opened the door for Russia and Turkey to find a foothold in Libya.

She said that Ankara and Moscow had brought about a strategic transformation in the eastern Mediterranean region, and imposed in Libya a reality similar to the Syrian reality, and they opened a path of negotiation similar to that of Astana in Syria.

She pointed out that Russia and Turkey, and if their interests differ, they meet in the desire to compete and compete in Europe and the West in several regions, especially in the Libyan file, which Europe, according to the newspaper, is trying to remedy what it has missed.

Le Monde considered that several countries - including Turkey and Russia - violated UN resolutions banning the supply of arms to Libya, and the newspaper also quoted analysts as saying that Turkey, in turn, had sent Syrian fighters loyal to it to support the forces of the National Accord government.

The newspaper said that Turkish interference in the Libyan conflict has a close relationship to the gas conflict in the Eastern Mediterranean region, a note of the agreement signed by Turkey with the Libyan National Accord government.

On the other hand, the newspaper says that Russia interfered in the Libyan conflict because it found a power vacuum that can be filled at the lowest cost, and it also sees what is happening in the Libyan arena as an opportunity to conclude massive arms deals.
