This was announced by the Minister of Oil of Kuwait Khaled al-Fadyl.

“Trial oil production at Al-Wafra and Al-Khafji fields began on Sunday ... Gradually, production will be brought back to natural,” Kuwait news agency KUNA quoted him as saying.

According to the minister, the volume of joint oil production in the region divided with Saudi Arabia will reach 550 thousand barrels per day by the end of 2020.

As he noted, the production level at Al-Wafra field has already amounted to 140 thousand barrels per day, at Al Khafji - 250 thousand barrels per day, which is the Kuwaiti share.

At the same time, Khaled al-Fadyl said that the country is trying to reach a production level of 4 million barrels per day by 2040.

The Wall Street Journal previously wrote that Saudi Arabia is pushing for a temporary reduction in oil production due to coronavirus, which affects the demand for hydrocarbons.
