A rally in support of the author of the killing of the Paris police headquarters, scheduled for Thursday in Gonesse, will be banned, said Wednesday Interior Minister Christophe Castaner denouncing an "infamy".

"The demonstration planned in Gonesse in support of the assassin of the police headquarters is an infamy and an insult to the memory of our police officers.I spoke with the prefect of Val-d'Oise: the gathering will be banned" said the interior minister on Twitter.

Mr. Castaner also announced his intention to warn the court of justice following remarks by the organizer of the event.

"I asked that the hateful remarks made by his organizer be reported to the public prosecutor, on the basis of Article 40 of the Code of Criminal Procedure," added the minister, still on the social network.

In a message posted on Facebook, Hadama Traoré, a political activist in Aulnay-sous-Bois, claims that the author of the killing, Mickaël Harpon, "is not a religious extremist" and calls for a rally in front of the town hall from Gonesse (Val d'Oise) from 13H00 to 15H00 Thursday.

"A request for a classic event has been filed by Hadama Traoré, the analysis is underway, we will quickly give an answer," said the prefecture of Val d'Oise to AFP.

Right and far right, but also some left, were upwind Wednesday against the organization of this homage to the killer of the prefecture of Paris, demanding its prohibition and for some the pursuit of its initiators.

"Of course we must prohibit it, there is not even a question to ask," reacted Frederic Pechenard, vice-president (LR) of the Ile-de-France region and former director general of the national police , on LCI.

"How can we believe that Emmanuel Macron could fight against the Islamist hydra when he can not even ban a demonstration of support for the murderer of four policemen organized by an earthworm?" Asked Marine Le Pen, President of the National Gathering, on Twitter.

Including left voices rose against this demonstration.

Yannick Jadot, boss of EELV, considered on Sud Radio "this form of legitimization of an absolutely abominable attack is scandalous". "We are really sometimes at the end of the abject and cynical," he lamented.

The Radical Party of the Left, for its part, demanded "the outright prohibition of the demonstration + shame and the filthy" organized in support of the killer of the Prefecture of Police.
