Already last week, Frida Karlsson was told that she did not meet the Swedish Ski Federation's health requirements and thus stopped from competing and had to pull down on the training.

On Monday, the news became official.

Now her mother and manager tells Mia Karlsson that her daughter has accepted the message and looks forward.

- Frida has not received a cancer message. Now she is well and looking forward. Here I would like to steal a quote from Stig Wiklund (sports psychologist) that fits well into the situation Frida is in now: "Either you win or you learn," says Mia Karlsson to TT.

"Not healthy"

The ski association continuously tests the national team skiers so that they, among other things, have the right balance when it comes to training in relation to the right diet and nutritional intake. In addition, sleep and recovery play an important role in the balance, as does mental health.

Mia Karlsson does not want to comment on Frida Karlsson during the summer and autumn received signals if the health development has gone in the wrong direction. Instead, she refers to national team doctor Magnus Oscarsson.

- You have to have a balance in training load and recovery, and there are many parameters that play into it. Now that balance was not there, but what specific parameters we have looked at, which are the basis for this decision, I do not want to go into that, Oscarsson told TT on Monday night.

However, Mia Karlsson points out that Frida Karlsson is always eating well and has been managing the diet well.

- Elite sports aren't really healthy. It's a balancing act all the time. I think it is great that tests are done and Frida has been tested continuously, she says and continues:

- Ski life is like a roller coaster. Ever since Frida was born, her life has been raised up and down to two. There are things to learn from this and Frida has accepted to think long term. Now her mood is good and she looks forward.

Insecure comeback

When can Frida Karlsson start competing again?

- We don't know that today.

In the middle of this situation, Mia Karlsson sees flashes of light in everyday life with her daughter. According to the plan, Frida Karlsson would compete all the way into the Christmas weekend. Now it will be different.

- The positive is that she can now be home and we can prepare and celebrate Christmas together, as we did in previous years.

Ahead of the season premiere, Norwegian Tour de Ski winner Ingvild Flugstad Östberg announced that she will be stopped from competing for similar reasons. She is not part of this weekend's World Cup in Davos, but the Norwegian Confederation announces that she is making progress in the rehabilitation.
