Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry Kajiyama will visit the United States on March 13 to meet with Trade Representative Light Heiser. At the talks, we will confirm that we will deepen cooperation in creating international rules in the digital field.

Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry Kajiyama will visit Washington, USA for a period of two days from the 13th to meet with Trade Representative Light Heiser.

At the talks, the two countries will work together to build closer international rules in the digital field, centering on the Japan-US Digital Trade Agreement, which came into force on January 1, and as part of the reform of the World Trade Organization (WTO). With this in mind, it is expected that the government will seek to tighten regulations on subsidies that unfairly favor its own industries.

During the implementation of the Japan-US Trade Agreement, which came into effect this month, it is expected to reaffirm the agreement between the leaders that the United States will not impose additional tariffs on Japanese cars.
