Two days after the death of Franck Lablois, this 45-year-old policeman died of his injuries after being voluntarily hit by the driver of a van to Lyon, the investigation is progressing. Wednesday, a young man, a minor, was arrested as part of this investigation, said the Lyon prosecutor's office this Thursday morning, confirming information from Progress.

"The investigations are actively continuing to determine his involvement and his exact role during the commission of the facts," added the prosecution in a statement. It is therefore not yet known whether this young suspect was driving the van that struck the victim on the night of January 10 to 11.

Another suspect involved in the theft arrested

That night, while participating in a police operation as part of an investigation into cargo theft and armed robbery, the officer attempted to intercept the suspects' vehicle near Bron.

The driver of the van then rushed at him, seriously injuring him. The policeman, belonging to the operational support group (GAO) at the departmental security of the Rhône, died Monday at the hospital where he had been hospitalized with a vital prognosis engaged.

Open judicial information

On the night of the incident, a 19-year-old man, suspected of being the driver of another car which had participated in the theft, had been arrested by the BAC, while the driver of the van had managed to escape.

Judicial information had been opened on Monday, January 13, on counts of "voluntary homicide on a person holding public authority" and "theft followed by violence resulting in death," said the prosecutor's office on Thursday.
