Teddy Riner, who made his return to competition in early July after twenty months without a fight, will participate in two tournaments in October, the Grand Slam of Brasilia and Abu Dhahi precisely, announced the coaching of the French team of judo Saturday.

"The selection was made today (Saturday)," said AFP National Technical Director Jean-Claude Senaud.

The Grand Slam of Brasilia will take place from 4 to 6 October, and that of Abu Dhabi from 24 to 26.

"After, maybe he'll do another competition, and he'll definitely be at the Paris tournament" next February, he added.

Riner (30), two-time Olympic champion in heavyweight and ten-time world champion (eight times in +100 kg, two in all categories), returned victoriously with the competition at the beginning of July in Montreal, in a less prestigious tournament, one year from the 2020s (24 July-9 August) and twenty months after his last fight. In the meantime, he gave himself a long break, about a year.

Focused on the conquest of a third historic Olympic victory in heavyweight, he preferred to skip the World-2019 in the Japanese capital, which end Sunday with the mixed team event and take place in the hall which will host the Olympic judo events next summer, the Nippon Budokan.

Riner is undefeated since September 2010 and a series of 148 fights.
