The Japanese police have arrested Kim Mo (64), a suspected Korean theft, who fled the country after being arrested.

According to Kyodo News, the police released a video of Mr. Kim's face and images of his escape from the hospital where he was treated.

Japanese media outlets, including newspapers and broadcasters, reported Kim's real name and face as it was based on the disclosure of the city hall.

It is unusual for the Japanese police to hire a suspect who stealed from the media, not just a violent criminal, to the media.

Some have voiced fears that they may incite intimidating emotions in a deteriorating relationship between South Korea and Japan.

According to local media reports, Kim is accused of stealing 80,000 yen in cash at a counter at 2:20 pm in a Tokyo restaurant in Nakano-ku, Tokyo.

After running off the road, he was caught on the stairs and injured in his collarbone and ribs.

Kim told a police officer who guarded himself in the bathroom, saying, “I've just put a notepad in the lounge where I drank coffee.”

Kim used a wheelchair until just before escape, but it was reported that he had no difficulty walking.

The security camera video shows Mr. Kim leaving the wheelchair on the 5th floor of the police hospital on June 18 at 6:45 am and using the emergency stairs to escape to the front door.

Kim left the hospital and finally disappeared after arriving at JR Nakano Station by bus.
