The Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry over Japan and South Korea's trade management has announced that it will hold a director-level policy dialogue between the two governments next week in Seoul, South Korea.

The director-level policy dialogue between the two governments on trade management was held in Tokyo last December for the first time in about three and a half years, and we have agreed to continue the dialogue.

According to the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry, officials of the two governments will hold a preparatory meeting in Seoul on July 21 and have agreed to hold a policy dialogue in Seoul on October 10th.

The policy dialogue will be attended by Yoichi Iida, Director-General of Trade Control on the Japanese side, and Trade Policy Officer Lee Ho-hyun of the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Resources on the Korean side.

In this context, it is anticipated that Japan will exchange opinions on measures to tighten export controls to South Korea, the Korean trade control system, and the recent international situation concerning trade control.

Japan wants to confirm whether there has been any concrete progress in improving the personnel system and legal system related to trade management that have been required of the Korean side so far.

On the other hand, the Korean side would like to show its stance for improvement, which would lead to a review of Japan's measures.
