15 October 20197.00 The death toll from the passage of the powerful typhoon Hagibis over central-eastern Japan over the weekend is close to 70. The latest bulletin of the NKK public television also speaks of at least 16 missing and the authorities fear that the budget may worsen. Hagibis caused at least 146 landslides in 19 prefectures and the flooding of 47 rivers in 66 different locations. The size of the disaster remains difficult to quantify, because the water level makes access to the country's rural areas impracticable.
