November 13, 2019For alleged intimidation and beatings, between 2016 and 2017, against a 50-year-old Tunisian, Ismail Ltaief, detained for attempted murder, eleven people, including inspectors and prison officers from the San Vittore prison in Milan, are been indicted by the Milan group manager Alessandra Cecchelli.

The trial will begin for everyone on February 12th before the fifth penal section. The accusations are, in various ways, an obstacle to justice, injury, forgery and kidnapping.

According to a survey by the prosecutor in Milan Leonardo Lesti, the beatings and threats, which date back to a period between 2016 and 2017, were intended to punish Ltaief since in 2011, when he was in a cell in Velletri (Rome), he had reported other agents for burglary and beatings.

The beatings would have been carried out as well to prevent him, this is the hypothesis, to testify in the 'bis' trial before the Court of the town of Lazio on the matter of the alleged robberies.

The charges for the eleven prison guards (no longer in service in the prison of the Lombard capital, but in other institutions) are, for various reasons, an obstacle to justice, injury, forgery and kidnapping. The latter is only charged to some defendants, as in one of the two beatings, dated 27 March and 12 April 2017, as stated in the charge, the 50-year-old, deprived of "liberty" would have been handcuffed and transferred to a room being used by one of the agents under investigation and then being beaten.

In addition to Ltaief, one of his cell mates, a 30-year-old South American who is called to give testimony to Milanese magistrates, would have been intimidated by one of the defendants who was also arrested for this.
