Instagram users will soon be able to report in a few clicks publications they believe to be misinformation.
This new tool will allow to report a publication and then choose "false information" and thus attract the attention of independent fact-checkers so that they can verify it, explained a spokesperson of Facebook, which controls the network social.
This option should be made available to the billion users by the end of August.
"From today, people can report if they see posts on Instagram that they think are false," said the spokesperson, about the network that focuses on communication through the image.
"We are investing heavily to limit the spread of false information across all our platforms," she said.
Facebook has been accused - and acknowledged - that it did not take seriously early the attempts to misinform Russian pharmacies close to the Kremlin to influence the 2016 US presidential election in favor of Donald Trump.
Instagram posts that have been posted will not be deleted, if they do not violate the network policies, but they will not appear using the "explore" function or by searching using a keyword. sharp.
Facebook also intends to use artificial intelligence - which will first educate through returns - to detect false publications before they are reported by humans.
