In the DRC, this Thursday, October 4, a compromise between the opposition and the majority was found on the management of the standing committees of the National Assembly. The finalization of the establishment of the organs of the National Assembly is one of the priorities of this parliamentary session.

In the Democratic Republic of the Congo, the opponents wanted the organs of the lower house of Parliament , for control purposes, to be controlled only by them. They were aimed particularly at the Economic, Financial and Budgetary Control Committee, but also at the Public Policy Evaluation Commission.

After two days of discussions, an agreement has been reached: the Economic, Financial and Budgetary Control Committee will remain in the hands of the majority. The opposition will lead three of the ten standing committees: the socio-cultural commission, the territorial planning and infrastructure commission and the human rights commission.

A post in the office of the Assembly

The compromise found also allows the opposition to join the office of the National Assembly where it has a single post, the deputy rapporteur. And now, opponents do not want to waste time, already place in the sharing of responsibility.

" So we are already taking the position of deputy rapporteur and we are going to call the big plenary of the opposition for the restitution and make arrangements for assignments to the various positions, " warns Leon Mondole, MP for the Lamuka coalition.

The agenda of this parliamentary session is loaded. After the establishment of the commissions, there will remain among others the debate around the draft Finance Law 2020 , but also the draft of the law on the accountability of 2018 as well as the collective budget for the year 2019.
