“Over the past six months, the bodies and units of the migration service of the Donetsk People’s Republic have accepted more than 55 thousand applications from citizens of the DPR for the acquisition of citizenship of the Russian Federation in a simplified manner,” Interfax quotes him.

He noted that more than 35 thousand received confirmation of citizenship and more than 33 thousand received their passports themselves.

In September, the Russian Interior Ministry told RT that residents of the DPR and LPR filed nearly 90 thousand applications for simplified Russian citizenship.

On April 24, Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a decree on a simplified procedure for obtaining Russian passports by residents of the self-proclaimed Donetsk and Lugansk people's republics.
