A 70-year-old man was indicted for murder and detained on Monday after the discovery of his 70-year-old spouse's body on Saturday morning, the prosecutor said. Placed in custody on Saturday morning, the man was, Monday morning, "referred to the prosecutor's office of Le Mans and a judicial investigation was opened to the head of murder on spouse", according to the statement of the prosecutor of the Republic of Le Mans, which specifies that "in accordance with the requisitions of the prosecutor's office, the latter has been placed in pre-trial detention by the liberty and detention judge".
Context of domestic violence
Following a call to the gendarmerie and firefighters, the body of the woman had been "found at his home, located in a wooded area of Ruaudin" near Le Mans, home where his spouse was also, according to the statement. "The family environment tends to confirm the existence of a context of domestic violence, without any complaint or report has ever been made," he says. The autopsy of the victim made it possible to detect "numerous bruises and fractures".
